Overview

Installed in 2015 to celebrate the opening of Hotel Gracery Shinjuku, the Godzilla Head pays tribute to Japan's most famous movie monster.

The head is modelled after the creature's appearance in the 1992 film Godzilla vs. Mothra and features realistic detailing including scales, teeth and glowing eyes.

At regular intervals throughout the day and evening, the Godzilla Head comes to life with:

  • Roaring sound effects
  • Illuminated eyes
  • Smoke effects
  • Head movements (during selected shows)

The display has become one of the most photographed attractions in Shinjuku.

Why Visit?

The Godzilla Head is one of Tokyo's most recognisable modern landmarks and celebrates one of Japan's greatest cultural exports. Whether you're a lifelong Godzilla fan or simply exploring the colourful streets of Shinjuku, it offers a memorable photo opportunity and a uniquely Japanese experience.

History
