Shinjuku 3D Cat
The Shinjuku 3D Cat is one of Tokyo's most photographed modern landmarks, delighting visitors with its lifelike animations on the giant curved Cross Shinjuku Vision billboard outside Shinjuku Station.
Shinjuku 3D Cat (ๆฐๅฎฟๆฑๅฃใฎ็ซ), officially known as The Giant 3D Cat, is a giant three-dimensional digital cat displayed on the curved Cross Shinjuku Vision LED billboard at the East Exit of Shinjuku Station. Since its debut in 2021, the animated calico cat has become one of Tokyo's most recognisable modern attractions, drawing crowds throughout the day to watch it stretch, yawn, sleep and play as though it were perched on the edge of the building.
The realistic "naked-eye" 3D effect creates the illusion that the cat is climbing out of the billboard without the need for special glasses. Between regular advertising, the cat appears in short animated sequences that have become a social media favourite and a must-see stop for visitors exploring Shinjuku.

๐ History
The Shinjuku 3D Cat first appeared in 2021 on the Cross Shinjuku Vision billboard, a massive curved LED display overlooking the East Exit of Shinjuku Station.
The screen uses anamorphic technology to create the illusion of depth, making the cat appear to occupy a three-dimensional space inside the billboard. Throughout the day, the cat appears in a series of short animations, stretching, meowing, pawing at the edge of the screen and occasionally curling up for a nap between advertisements.
Its charming personality and realistic movements quickly made it one of Tokyo's most photographed modern attractions.
