Shinjuku 3D Cat
The Shinjuku 3D Cat (新宿東口の猫) is one of Tokyo's most recognisable digital landmarks. Displayed on a huge curved LED billboard outside the east side of Shinjuku Station, the animated cat appears to sit inside a glass box high above the surrounding streets.
Since making its debut in 2021, the cat has become a popular modern attraction, combining advanced digital technology with Tokyo's playful and creative character.

Overview
The Shinjuku 3D Cat is displayed on the Cross Shinjuku Vision billboard near the East Exit of Shinjuku Station.
The curved screen uses anamorphic visual effects to create the illusion that the cat is three-dimensional. Depending on the animation, the cat may:
- Wake up and stretch
- Yawn or meow
- Look down at pedestrians
- Paw at the edge of the screen
- Curl up and go to sleep
No special glasses or equipment are needed to see the effect.
