Shinjuku Frigo opened in 2000 near the South Exit of Shinjuku Station, specialising in Belgian beer at a time when imported European craft beer was still relatively uncommon in Japan. Over the following two decades, it established itself as one of Tokyo's leading Belgian beer destinations, earning a loyal following among beer enthusiasts and becoming well known within Japan's craft beer community.
In 2025, Frigo relocated to nearby Shinjuku Sanchลme following the redevelopment of its original building. Although the location changed, the restaurant retained its signature European pub atmosphere, extensive beer selection and commitment to authentic Belgian hospitality.
