Covering more than 54 hectares, the park is renowned for its spacious lawns, tree-lined pathways and lively atmosphere throughout the year.
Unlike many traditional Japanese gardens, Yoyogi Park is an open recreational space where locals and visitors gather to relax, exercise, picnic and enjoy a wide variety of cultural activities. ๐ History
The land occupied by Yoyogi Park has undergone several transformations throughout its history. In 1910, it became the site of Japan's first successful powered aircraft flight. During the Allied occupation following World War II, the area was used as military housing before being redeveloped for the athletes' village during the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Following the Olympics, the site was transformed into Yoyogi Park and officially opened to the public in 1967. Today, it remains one of Tokyo's most beloved green spaces, welcoming millions of visitors each year.
