Shibuya Nonbei Yokocho
Hidden beside Shibuya Station, Shibuya Nonbei Yokocho is a nostalgic alleyway of tiny bars and izakayas that preserves the atmosphere of post-war Tokyo.
Shibuya Nonbei Yokocho (ๆธ่ฐทใฎใในใๆจชไธ), also known as Drunkard's Alley, is one of Shibuya's oldest and most atmospheric dining districts. Located just north of Shibuya Station, this narrow network of lantern-lit alleyways is home to dozens of intimate bars, yakitori restaurants and traditional izakayas.
In stark contrast to the bright lights and bustling crowds of Shibuya Crossing, Nonbei Yokocho offers a glimpse into old Tokyo, where locals gather after work to enjoy grilled skewers, sake and conversation in establishments that often seat fewer than ten people.

๐ History
Nonbei Yokocho was established shortly after World War II, when small bars and food stalls began operating in the area to serve local workers and residents. The name "Nonbei Yokocho" translates roughly to "Drunkard's Alley", reflecting its long-standing reputation as a gathering place for food, drinks and conversation.
Although much of Shibuya has been redeveloped with modern skyscrapers and shopping centres, Nonbei Yokocho has retained much of its original character. Today, it remains one of Tokyo's best-preserved examples of a traditional post-war drinking alley and is popular with both locals and visitors seeking an authentic dining experience.
